Eight-year-old Joe Critchlow, who attends Manifold Primary School, said he was looking forward to the extra freedom attending a middle school would bring.

He added: "The teachers seem nice although some of them are a bit strict."

Harry Flower, aged nine, who attends Leek First School, said: "I was a bit nervous because I thought there might be bullies but there aren't any, so I feel better now. I'm looking forward to September."

Classmate Elwyn Law said: "I like the way we will move around for different lessons and not stay in one classroom. It makes you feel more grown up."

Nine-year-old Lottie Kirtly, who attends Leek First School, said: "I was a bit scared at first but I've enjoyed it and made lots of new friends. The teachers seemed nice too."

Eight-year-old Kayleigh Sheldon, who attends Leek First, said: "I am going to miss my old school especially some of the teachers and smaller children."

Molly Findler, aged nine, said: "I enjoyed the science lesson because we have done different experiments. The food is great too."

Nine-year-old Matthew Etheridge, who attends St Edward's First School in Cheddleton, said: "I've really enjoyed the science lesson because there are proper labs."

Nine-year-old Nathan Peake, who attends Woodcroft First School, said: "It's great to have try-out days. It's put me at ease about starting in September."

Classmate Morgan Bailey, aged nine, said: "The lessons are good because you get different teachers and different classrooms."

John Daly, aged nine, of Horton St Michael's First School, said: "I enjoyed the music lessons and science experiments. I'm going to miss Horton school but I think I am will enjoy St Edward's."

Charlie Caldwell, aged nine, who attends St Edward's First School in Cheddleton, said: "The older kids have been really helpful. The lessons have been more challenging. I'm looking forward to starting here."

Kitty Faulder, aged 12, of St Edward's First School in Cheddleton, said: "It's been good to have a peak at what to expect in September. I was a bit nervous but now I am excited about coming here."

Churnet View Middle School pupil Molly Belfield, aged 13, from Cheddleton, said: "It's been fantastic. The teachers here make you feel more adult."

Thirteen-year-old Mischa Balderstone, of Flash, who also currently attends Churnet View Middle School, said: "It's brilliant because we are treated more maturely here."

George Dennison, aged 13, of Churnet View Middle School, said: "There are 15 of us who will be coming to Westwood from Churnet View. I decided to come here because I preferred it.

"I've enjoyed everything about the transition days."

St Edward's Junior High School pupil Danny Graham, aged 13, said: "You get a lot more freedom than at St Edward's. It's great. You're allowed to go anywhere in the school grounds.

"We're also allowed to bring our mobile phones and the lessons are better because there are more options."

St Edward's Junior High School pupil Richard Latham, aged 13, said: "We get treated more like adults.

"I have outgrown St Edward's. I'm looking forward to starting at Westwood in September."

Thirteen-year-old Georgia Grindon, who attends St Edward's Junior High, said: "There's a lot more freedom.

"It is a bit hard finding my way around, but I know I'll soon adjust. The older students have been really helpful."

Hollie Shaw, aged 12, from Onecote, said: "I've felt more like a grownup. The teachers have been really nice."

Molly Newton, aged 13, said: "We had the chance to try out different lessons. I'm now looking forward to September."

Alec Clohesy, aged 13, from Leek, said: "It's better than at middle school. It's just more fun."

Kieron Bailey, aged 13, from Leek, said: "I've outgrown middle school and I'm looking forward to high school – except for the exams."

Thirteen-year-old Sam Oldfield, from Cheddleton, said: "I've not been nervous but the transition days have been really helpful."

Erin Cartlidge, aged 13, from Ipstones, said: "I was a bit nervous about getting lost.

"It's good to have transition days because it gives you the opportunity to get used to your next school before September."
